All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth...

I couldn't believe when I found them today. The first one I found on the way to church - just reached in and there it was. I was looking at it later in the day and suddenly, there was #2!! Honest! No crying, no complaining, no sleeplessness. (when will our luck run out?)

I'm so excited for him, for them, but I'm also sad - my little boy is growing up in the blink of an eye.

So many of them around here.

I was finally convinced to go on retreat last weekend because I was assured by all that I wouldn't miss any of Thomas' firsts - word, crawl, walk, etc. Not true. I missed the first (and 2nd) projectile vomitting! I also missed the first (and 2nd) solo Daddy bath. Poor Daddy. Yes, Thomas had the stomach bug, from Sunday til about Wednesday. But as is our little man - he didn't skip a beat. He was all smiles and his usual jovial self. He threw up again monday night with me and I
almost didn't know. He was sitting in his high chair sipping his juice and made a funny noise. I looked at him and he was smiling and sticking his sippy cup right back in his mouth. Too funny!!

Thomas also had his first ice cream this week! (cause once you're over the stomach bug, you definitely deserve ice cream!) It was so cool. He definitely liked the taste, but was a little confused about the cold.

I've had a few firsts this week - and they relate to my annual goals for myself. In an effort to eat healthier, I've been wanting to incorporate fish in my diet. So I cooked fish for the first time this weekend, and it was Tilapia - which is the first time I've had it. My brother came down and we had fish tacos (YUM!). Paulo had the chicken version - he detests fish. And I had grilled it on the indoor grill pan which was easy, so I might do this more often.

And finally - FINALLY - my first book of the year, and in years! I am reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, and I am LOVING it! I'm relating to it on a lot of levels, which is why I'm soaking it in. So friends out there in cyberspace, I might actually finish one book this year, which I think means I am no longer in the running for illiteracy!! Yippee!!!

Well - I did it

I left my boy....for the weekend...and I survived...and I LOVED it!

I went on the annual women's retreat with church. Destination 08 - Newport, RI. I didn't imagine myself going, but of course God had other plans for me. The Magnolias were all in (for those who don't know, the magnolia's are my BFF's) and so were other
pretty cool women from church. The curriculum was being written by an awesome gal from church and I so wanted to do her study. And then Paulo of course said "Go honey - Thomas and I will have our 1st boys weekend". But, could I really bring myself to leave my little man?

Friday 2pm came and I met up with the girls to all drive down together. Yes I cried when saying goodbye, but Thomas was asleep so he really didn't mind - didn't even notice - mama taking off.

This weekend was such a huge blessing. I got great quality time with the girls, good rest, lots of walking, delicious meals. But most importantly, I was able to reconnect with the Lord - spend some really hardy time with Him - something I've been craving for since Thomas was born. In return, the Lord blessed me by revealing some pretty powerful lessons - ones I'll be incorporating into my life starting immediately. (Psalm 121:1-2).

My goal was to rest, refresh, and restore myself so that I can give it all back to Thomas, and I truly feel like I accomplished all my goals. As a stay at home mom, I am all he has. That's not to say Paulo isn't a good daddy - he's an incredible daddy. But if something happens to
me - Paulo can't just stop working and take care of him 24/7. I have to be sure to take really good care of myself - physcially, mentally, spiritually - so that I can be there for him. This weekend was all about that....and now this week I'm all about the boy!!!!
