And the wall comes tumbling down

It is construction central over here. Paulo busted his butt over the long weekend to gut our 2 front rooms (with the help of the dads). We've been talking about this project for 7 years now and FINALLY its happening - all because of my dedicated, hard working, talented hubby. We are turning 2 small rooms into one big room by taking down the dividing wall, as well as putting in new walls and ceilings...not to mention all the exciting extras - new lighting, trim, fireplace mantel, wall color, etc. Here are some pics.

Thomas and I went to the CT shore for the weekend to avoid all the mess (and work!) Here is his first trip to the beach (to sit and play in the sand, not walking on the beach in his stroller) He really enjoyed it.

Whirlwind days

This past weekend Thomas and I were on the road. We went to Springfield to stay with my parents for a few days. We visited with lots of people and I even got a girls night out with my dear friend since the first grade! My parents have a digital picture frame and of course it is filled with all pics of the boy. Well Thomas LOVED watching himself! He watched "Tommy TV" all weekend!!. Then he taught himself to read the newspaper!! Can you stand it?!

Then my parents joined us on a weekend jaunt to Vermont so I could attend my cousin Amy's baby shower. All in all, we had 5 days out of house, out of our routine, lots of new faces and sights, and Thomas was amazing! He just goes with the flow! The only yucky part of the weekend was missing Daddy terribly. Paulo couldn't make it because he had to work all weekend for BU's graduation.

We are home a few days now and off again this weekend - Daddy is going to do some demo in our house and so we need to get out of the way.

Mother's day

Every day that I get to spend with Thomas is mother's day to me. I know - I'm one of those sickening mother's so in love with her child....but I don't care. I'm Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch - I LOVE being a mom! And since I feel like I wasted away my first five years of marriage - meaning I took it all for granted and didn't count my blessings - then I am going to eat up this time with Thomas!

For mother's day, I had a manicure, pedicure and massage on saturday - oooooo that was nice. And needed - apparently I was super tight in my upper back from carrying my little, or should I say, big guy. Then Sunday I had a perfect mother's day - Paulo and I went to church (Thomas stayed home with my folks), then everyone came
over and we had cook-out with my ranch potato salad (1st time this season - YUM-O), and I made these very yummy berry chocolate cups for dessert. I even got a nap in - it was perfect!

The next 2 weeks are a little crazy here - Thomas and I are headed to VT this week for my cousin Amy's baby shower (a new cousin for Thomas due in July!). Paulo can't come because he has BU graduation all weekend - its like a 72 hour weekend for him. Then next week I have to pack up our 2 front rooms to prepare for renovation. Will keep you posted on all that!

Maybe it is easy being green

I don't know if its having a child now, or if I'm just more conscious in general, but I'm trying to make an effort to become a little more green. Believe me - I'm not just trying to jump on the bandwagon of the latest "trend". Actually, my parents taught me from a very early age not to litter, and now I'm taking it more to heart with my household trash - where does it all go???

Just because I've bought once or twice from a company, they think that means I want to receive their catalog every other week - NOT! I have enough trash as it is, I don't have money to buy often, and I don't have time to even flip through the catalog! If I want to purchase something, I'll find it and buy it - I don't need the mass mail! So - here is a very easy way to opt-out. Not only are you receiving less junk mail, you're going green!!

And here is this week's pics of the boy. He learned how to clap all by himself this week. So cute!
