This week Thomas has been practicing his walking a lot - with his walking toys. He is even standing all on his own now - holding on to nothing. But then instead of taking a step forward, he just sits down and starts to crawl. He's keeping us all in suspense. Some days I think he'll be walking by tomorrow, other days I think he could drag this out for a long while. We'll just have to wait and see!! And this is Thomas enjoying ice cream with his Nana. My mother was worried that because of his dairy allergy that he didn't have the ice cream gene and that we'd have to have him tested to be sure he is a McKenzie! Now that he can have it - Thomas loooooooves ice cream! We call this shot "homeboy in beantown"

I don't have a lot to report this week - things are just in a nice daily groove. That doesn't mean there isn't lots of fun and excitement around here - there's always something new and exciting with Thomas. Its nice just to be living day to day. Mondays we generally recover from our Daddy filled weekend - so we lay low, do laundry, tidy up the house. Tuesdays Thomas goes over to visit with Paulo's parents while I do errands, have appointments and try to do the big cleaning. Wednesday is our whatever day - whatever goes. Thursdays we have Moms Together Bible study - mama gets filled up and Thomas plays with little people. Fridays we have play group and then we head to Super Walmart (LOVE the sperwalmart). Its a nice mix of activity throughout the week - Thomas loves to be out and about, seeing new people and things. But when we're home, he loves being loose and carefree and getting to roam all around. I'm doing a lot of cooking - Chicken LoMein, Black Bean & Pumpkin Soup, Chilaquilas, Fritatta, Cauliflower Mac n'cheese. Now that Thomas has no food restrictions (well, except fish and nuts) he wants me to bring it on! He'll try just about anything. Every day Thomas has a new trick. He's finally mastered waving - on cue and in the right context. He "talks" on his telephone - holds it up to his ear. He is kissing his stuffed animals. I can't believe last year at this time he still wasn't even here!! This is a chair my grandfather had as child - Thomas is now the 4th generation to sit in this chair.

From this.... to this... The boy is finally sleeping in his room..... in his crib..... 12 hours a night...... every night..... and 2 naps a day. Sing it with me people - Halleluiah!!! Actually - the process was waaay better than expected. It took a total of 3 nights for the transition - and he only cried when we put him down - he never woke up during the night, any of the nights. Here is my secret - listen up moms - this is my advice. Forget what everyone says - whatever "it" is....do it when YOU are ready. Cause when YOU are ready, then the backlash (or in our case, the 45 minutes of screaming) won't even bother you. Really - I was fine with it. Cause he was gonna sleep in that crib!! So I have freedom again - which has allowed me to get back to cookin' in the kitchen (just in time - new season of Rachel Ray - YUM-O), and reading at night. Which is my segway to my latest greatest book - Friday Night Knitting Club. READ IT!! It was FABULOUS!!! And, because I cannot resist - here's a pic of my 2 men

Although no one in our house is starting school, I'm feeling the change of the seasons, and the beginning of the new routines. Thomas and I are still enjoying our beach walks, and now we're anxiously awaiting the end of Daddy's busy season so our football Sundays can begin! I'm very excited for the Moms Together bible study to begin again, and Thomas and I are going to do a playgroup this fall. The biggest news - I'm happy to announce Thomas is now sleeping in his own crib, 10 hours a night. YIPPEEEEE!!! I'll post more news next week - mama going to go hit the hay early tonight!
