Aaaaahhhhh

We're back from our week in Florida. I have to admit - I didn't go into the week thinking "vacation". I mean, yes, we were getting out of dreary cold New England, but we were going to my parents' one bedroom condo....in a 55+ community...and they haven't had good weather this winter. I was thinking of the week as, well, a visit to my folks. You set your expectations low and you'll be pleasantly surprised...no, you'll be elated!! We had an AWESOME week, and it really was a vacation. My parents' condo is reeeeally nice, and very spacious for a one bedroom. As an added vacation touch, they slept at my aunt and uncle's 2 bedroom condo every night, so we all got a little space. Their community is spectacular - amenities, nice grounds, friendly people. I can only hope to retire somewhere that nice. We walked every day, swam in the pool for hours. And the weather - WHOA! It was sunny, breezy and 81 splendid degrees all week long!! AND we had daylight savings during our week, so we had sunlight until 8pm, when the temps would dip to oh, about 75. And vacation it was since my parents entertained and helped with the boy. He couldn't go in the pool, but he was more than content to walk around and around it all afternoon. So while daddy and I floated for hours, my folks chased Thomas. And they babysat 2 nights so Paulo and I could do out on dates....mmmmmmmm. And the boy....ah, the boy. He was FABULOUS!! I'm telling you, how I got such an easy, go with the flow kid, I'll never know. He took 2-3 naps a day and slept 12 hours a night. Of course - we were outside all day long, which he loved. I can tell you now, if you are looking for us from May 1 - Sept 30, you'll have to call our backyard, or head on down to the beach to seek us out. My boy will NOT be kept behind closed doors. His only meltdowns were when we had to go inside - Thomas wanted none of that. But he was an angel, on the plane, meeting so many new people, at the big huge beach with loud crashing waves. He makes me so proud to be his mama. Enjoy the pics - they are in the slide show at left. Have no clue how I got it work, so we'll see how long that lasts. (have I mentioned lately that I LOOOOOOOVE my camera?)

Farewell faithful friend

Our beloved Kitty went to heaven today. She had been with me for almost 15 years. She was a constant companion - always there for me. It sounds odd - how can an animal who can't talk or hug you "be there" for you. She was though. She could always read my mood and would snuggle me or just sit with me as I needed. We spent a lot of quality time together over the years. Most recently she kept me really good company when I was on bed rest during my pregnancy. I don't know if we'll ever get another cat - Kitty was too perfect.

Bad mommy

I've let Thomas discover television. All those ideals about being a non-tv home out the window. I found a muppet type show called Jack's Big Music Show on the Noggin station. He LOOOOOVES it....and so do I! Its 20 minutes of music - and not the annoying kind. Some real catchy tunes in fact. Thomas' other favorite show? Wheel of Fortune!! I figure its letters and numbers.....and geography. How's that you ask? Well, they give away a trip every show and they have to describe the wonderful destination, so that's geography. This week while we are snowed in - more snow ugh - I'm packing for our trip to Florida, where there isn't any snow - yippee!! We are going to visit my parents for a week. I'm excited for the good weather, the pool and the beach. I'm dreading the 3 hour plane ride during which I have to keep a very active Thomas very much seated. DREADING IT. Will let you know how it all goes. Here are some pics to keep you busy in our absence.
