Welcoming Warm Weather

YIPPPPEEEEE!!! Its finally warm here! We have had a few trips to the beach, we've been out walking, we've been playing the yard and to the playground, we've been wearing sunscreen - love that smell, have missed it this long winter. I feel refreshed and rejuvenated - how bout you all? Last weekend my awesome cousin Amy came to visit with her very cool husband and oooooo soooooo cute 9 mo. old daughter Gianna. We had a fabulous weekend, the weather was very cooperative for our yard-playing, front-porch-sitting, beach-pictures-taking weekend. Amy and I both lamented on our wishes to live closer (they are 3.5 hours north in VT) but neither husband is budging. Maybe we'll retire together. The downside to all this good weather is allergies. We've known for a while Thomas has them, but I've just learned now that I do too. Some sort of tree pollen that is going wild right now. So much as I would love to have the windows open all day, that's a no-no now. Good thing daddy is finishing up the new central air with his work buddies. I think it will be running by next week. PHEW! Paulo is about to start busy season with Rack Raiser and BU so May is a tough month. We'll both just put our heads down, push forward and hold fast to the thought of Memorial day weekend, when we can just kick back and relax!!

Busy week

We had Easter, then Daddy was home for a day, then My dad came back from Florida this week so we've been playing with him. Easter was wonderful. After a beautiful service at our church, we hosted my cousins: Jenn and her girls Madison and Rilynn, and Carrie, her husband Eric, and their daughter McKenzie. All 3 girls are 5 years old. They made the trip from CT which should have been about 2 hr 15 minutes, but with Mass Pike Tolls issues it was 3 hrs each way. YIKES! We had a great time though. The girls were so good with Thomas - and he was good with sharing. Thomas has been climbing the stairs since about Christmas, but now he has mastered going down the stairs on his bum - he is so proud. He is also asking for his drink by name now - "Wawa" for water. And yesterday he said his first 3 word sentence: "Bye my dada". Can you even stand it?! I can't. Thank goodness for all the cuteness, because he has not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 teeth coming in this week...and a cold...and a cough, so he's been, um, let's say, a little tough. I think he's trying to perfect his tantrum, but Mama's not helping him.

The 2 sweetest words in the world

MAMA and DADA. It seems Thomas has mastered the meaning of these words this week. He's been saying both for a few months, however this weekend has been nothing but MAMA and DADA. He calls down the stairs for DADA or yells MAMA from the other room. He lights up when I come in the room and runs to me with a hug. Makes my heart swell every time and brings tears to my eyes. Thomas has learned 2 new signs this week - that's a total of about 30 signs now. Originally, I got into the signing cause I thought it would be neat and fun. I didn't really do much research or work - I certainly wasn't the mom who was determined to jump start my son's education and academic stimulus. I just picked up a short "dictionary" of the most used signs. I have to tell you, I LOVE it! In addition to being really cute and fun, Thomas really is able to communicate what he wants and needs, and we really can communicate with him. Its really cool. Nothing much new going on around here. I am getting ready for Easter - we are hosting my cousins Jenn and Carrie and their families. Its very exciting - we haven't hosted a holiday for my extended family yet, and more importantly, Thomas will get to spend lots of quality time with his cousins McKenzie, Madison and Rilynn - all 5 yrs old. Will definitely have pics to post I'm sure. Oh, and you can add me to the list of New Englanders who constantly complain about the weather. This has been a particularly hard winter - not because we've had so much snow, or too many storms, nor has it been super cold. Rather, I've been trying to keep a toddler occupied in a small house. Then we further tried our patience by getting a taste of the good weather in Florida. I have never considered myself an "outdoor" person, but I'm starting to realize I might just be. I need the fresh air, to stretch my legs....yes, I even need to feel the sun on my face. Thomas and I go out each day to find a playground or walk in the mall - just to move and be free!!
