Pics from inside the new house

I wanted to give this post a catchy title ..

"DRUMROLL PLEASE"

"FINALLY"

"BEFORE AND AFTER"

But you all have been watching & waiting so patiently,
I figured I'd just tell it how it is.

Just a note: two rooms are not pictured: 1 - OFFICE, because it is in shambles. That's the room we are working out of for unpacking and organizing.  2 - KITCHEN, because it isn't completed yet.  And, more importantly, my very talented husband deserves a post all to himself for his gorgeous work and craftsmanship.

So, without out further or do...
here are the pics you've been waiting for you.

The moment I knew

Most couple's have a story of how they met.

Our story is really defined by the moment I knew.

The moment I knew I was undeniably

madly

deeply

truly

in love with Paulo.

Here is our story:

Many people know that Paulo and I ment in a singing group in August of 1997.  He came in to his audition with his warm smile and beautiful voice and instantly I felt a spark.   What many people don't know is that I was engaged to another man at the time (ooooo - scandalous!)  As instantly as I felt that spark for Paulo I immediately realized I have not 1 but 2 problems.

1st - I'm engaged.
2nd - If I'm engaged to someone else, why did I feel something for Paulo?

Over the course of the next several months, while singing with this group, Paulo and I got to know one another.  We both knew there was a connection between us, but we didn't do anything about it outside of spending time together with the group.

I wasn't a Christian at the time, but I started talking to God about my situation.  I was so confused.  I thought I was in love with the man I was engaged to, although I knew we have very wrong for me.  And I didn't quite understand what I was feeling for Paulo - was it just a cruch or could it be something real.  So I asked God for a sign - and I asked him to make it very  clear.

Nine months later, God did give me a sign...and it was very clear.

It was May now, the end of our concert season, and we were going to break for the summer.  We had just performed our last show and a few people from the group were going out to dinner.  At the restaurant, as we made our way to the table, Paulo put his hand out and said "after you", and as I passed him, he put his hand on the small of my back to ever so gently guide me forward.

In that touch, I felt such warmth, such kindness, and strength, and caring...

and love.

I knew right then that Paulo was the one.  And not only did I know he was the one - but I knew God was giving me His blessing.  In that touch God was telling me "Paulo is the one I have chosen for you".  The next day I broke up with Mr. Wrong and within the week, Paulo and I started our whirlwind courtship.

Eight years ago today, February 22, in front of God and our friends and loved ones, Paulo and I were married.

Happy Anniversary Paulo.  God granted me the first miracle in my life by giving me you.  You have made me happier than I could have even dreamed for myself.  Thank you.

I love you.

H.O.M.E.

210 days after we first saw it.....
206 days after we put in our offer.....
4 months (exactly) after we closed on it....

we are in our new home. And it is wonderful.  Beyond words.

Living there actually exceeds all my expectations.

I found the house...
picked the paint colors...
layed out the hvac vents...
chose all the fixtures...
made design decisions with my husband...
bought all the curtains....

but still, throughout all the work in progress, I still couldn't envision the finished product.  And it is BEYOND my wildest dreams.

I am so h.a.p.p.y.

I promise, pictures to come, but as I said, I wanted get the house set up a little first.  And actually - we don't have our computer set up yet - I'm hijacking one at the moment just to touch base.  There are still plenty of boxes to unpack, but we are actually settled in quite well for now and enjoying life.at.home.
